Through this third album for Artalinna, François Dumont invites us to take a second promenade at the heart of J.S. Bach’s keyboard works. Some of the Cantor of Leipzig’s famous works, either as originally written or subsequently transcribed by the Romantics (Prelude and Fugue in A minor, Chaconne for solo violin), offer a complete panorama of the composer’s style from his very early youth (Capriccio) to his full musical maturity (Italian Concerto). Here, as in his fi rst Bach volume, François Dumont offers a revitalized vision of polyphony and an astonishing diversity of expressions.
